Elections in Meerbusch 2025: Discovering the Community's Choices
In the recently concluded local and election in Meerbusch, several notable changes and consistent performances were observed.
The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) emerged as the largest party in the Meerbusch city council, securing 48.21% of the votes and 24 seats. This represents an increase of 8.12 percentage points compared to the 2020 local election. Incumbent Christian Bommers was re-elected as Mayor of Meerbusch with approximately 67% of the votes.
The Social Democratic Party (SPD) followed closely, with 13.24% of the votes and 7 seats. However, this is a decrease of 1.95% compared to their performance in the previous election.

In the election for the Integration Council, Andreas Wagner (The PARTY) received 3.00% of the votes, Thomas Gabernig received 20.71% of the votes, Agnès Krah received 13.21% of the votes, and Nicole Niederdellmann-Siemes of the SPD received 12.09% of the votes. Borislav Tomov received 6.24% of the votes, and Sarah Winter of the Greens received 13.19% of the votes.
A runoff election for the position of district administrator will take place on Sunday, September 28, between Katharina Reinhold (CDU) and Hakan Temel (SPD).
A total of 17.31% of eligible voters participated in the Integration Council election, with 44,699 residents of Meerbusch eligible to vote in the local election, resulting in a turnout of 60.29%. Additionally, 12,364 residents with foreign roots were eligible to vote in the Integration Council election.
