Elections in Dormagen seeing a surge in the number of registered electors
On Sunday, September 14, the municipal and integration council election will take place in Dormagen. Here's a rundown of important details to help you navigate the voting process.
Several parties are participating in the election, including SPD, CDU, GRÜNE (The Greens), Zentrumspartei (Center Party), and some independent candidates.
If you prefer to vote by email (vote-by-mail), you can request a ballot. As of now, 13,885 out of 50,512 eligible voters have requested email for the municipal election, which is 27.48 percent. For the integration council election, 851 out of 14,883 eligible voters have requested email, which is 5.71 percent.
Email voters must deliver their red email envelopes to the election office by 4 p.m. on election day. If you're unsure about where to drop off your email envelope, a labeled mailbox is available at the New Town Hall, to the right of the entrance.
On election day, polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Each voter's polling station is indicated on their voter notification. You can also find your correct polling station using the polling station finder on the city's website.
The first results of the municipal election will be announced during the vote presentation at the Kulle. The vote presentation is a public event, and you're welcome to attend to hear the initial results.
Please note that while the first results will be announced during the vote presentation, the official results will not be final until the official declaration on September 17. The official declaration of the election results will take place in the council chamber on Wednesday, September 17, at 5:30 p.m.
