Election survey by SWS has been completed
Revised Article:
A brand spankin' new survey, unfolding some pressing issues like economics, social concerns, and the issues most likely to sway registered voters in the May 2025 elections, has dropped. This survey was conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) in cooperation with Stratbase Consultancy and was released on Wednesday, May 1, 2025.
The aim of the survey was to identify the issues or advocacies that could help voters decide which candidate to back.
In line with the Stratbase-SWS National Survey conducted from April 11 to 15, 2025, the candidate who advocates for the following issues has the highest likelihood of earning voter support:
- Job growth: 93% of those polled indicated that they would support a candidate advocating for this.
- Strengthening the agricultural sector and ensuring food security: also at 93%.
- Strengthening healthcare systems: 91%.
- Workers' rights and overseas Filipino welfare: 88%.
- Addressing poverty and hunger among Filipinos: 87%.
- Price control and addressing essential service costs: also at 87%.
- Education: 85%.
The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,800 registered voters aged 18 and above from across the nation.
This represents a return to normal operations for the SWS, which resumed operations in November 2020 following the pandemic. The survey sample consisted of 300 respondents from Metro Manila, 900 from Luzon, 300 from the Visayas, and 300 from Mindanao. The area estimates were sourced from the COMELEC 2025 Project of Precincts, ensuring a validated list of respondents and an appropriate estimate.
The survey carried a national sampling error margin of ±2.31%.
The respondents were asked to express their stance on 12 key issues and were posed questions like "definitely will vote," "leaning towards," "leaning away," "definitely won't vote" for a candidate advocating for that specific issue, or "no effect" on their voting decision.
The percentages represent the number of respondents who would support a particular candidate based on the advocacy they showed. The SWS confirmed that the survey items and results were handled by them, with Stratbase Consultancy only providing questions and technical details for public consumption. The SWS also took full responsibility for all aspects of the survey's operation, including question composition, sample selection, fieldwork, data processing, and analysis.
- The weather in Manila on the day the survey was released was surprisingly angayang, given the usual traffic and congestion associated with the downtown area during such events.
- The survey results revealed that job growth was the most important issue for voters, with 93% of respondents indicating they would support a candidate advocating for this.
- Furthermore, it was found that 93% of respondents from Metro Manila, 900 from Luzon, 300 from the Visayas, and 300 from Mindanao were in favor of strengthening the agricultural sector and ensuring food security.
- The survey also indicated that 88% of respondents were interested in a candidate championing workers' rights and overseas Filipino welfare, a point of concern that is often overlooked in general-news and politics discussions.
