The Presidential Re-Run at VfL Bochum

Election of the Board of Directors for VfL Bochum

It's time for an extraordinary event at VfL Bochum as the club prepares for a presidential re-election on the 14th of June. The vacancy arose following the removal of Hans-Peter Villis from the presidency in October, leaving his deputy Uwe Tigges temporarily in charge. The decision to hold fresh elections was made at the last general meeting in December.

New Faces, Old Hands: "Team Future"

"Team Future" is a coalition of seasoned veterans and fresh blood. Hans-Peter Villis, former VfL's goalkeeper Andreas Luthe, entrepreneur Till Grönemeyer, lawyer Dr. Christian Stenneken, entrepreneur Bettina Stratmann, and former player Franz-Josef "Jupp" Tenhagen are some of the notable faces in this team. The role of the chairperson, should they secure a victory, is yet to be decided. This call will be made shortly after the election in the subsequent meeting with all representatives.

"Team Future" has a well-defined division of labor. Andreas Luthe will keep a watchful eye on the sporting area. Hans-Peter Villis and Jupp Tenhagen will bring their extensive presidency experience into play. Till Grönemeyer will be the team's economic expert. Bettina Stratmann will focus on "social competencies." "Team Future" stands for innovation. The entire club will be subjected to a thorough review to identify areasthat require change. The club will have to face its challenges head-on.

Steady as She Goes: "We for VfL"

Running against "Team Future" is the team "We for VfL," which nominates Uwe Tigges as their candidate. Supporting Tigges are former Bochum footballer Mirja Dorny, the former VfL club doctor Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Bauer, the former VfL goalkeeper Thomas Ernst, and the current supervisory board member Martin Volpers. "We for VfL" advocates for maintaining stability and repairing damages.

"With "We for VfL," there's no need for drastic measures Like saying, "We have to start everything over from scratch." The team emphasizes unity. While individual expertise is present, decisions will be made collectively. The team champions a flat hierarchy, ensuring decisions are always made by committee and not individuals. One of their primary aims is to enhance the transfer policy. The team intends to stay committed to VfL's current course. Financially, the club is in a strong position and membership engagement is stronger than ever.
