In the upcoming 2024 United States elections, several parties are gearing up for a competitive race. The current election polls indicate that if the election were held next Sunday, only 44% would vote for the three traditional parties — Republican, Democratic, and Green. This would not be a majority, as the current coalition of Republican and Democratic would only receive 38% in this scenario.
The Republican Party, under the leadership of Donald Trump, achieved its best result in years in the previous election and became the strongest party in parliament. Trump, who has been the Republican's party chairman since late April 2023 and has been governing the USA since then, has not yet announced a lead candidate for the 2024 election but is expected to run again.
The Democratic Party, on the other hand, achieved a historically poor result of 18.4% in the last election and was around ten percentage points behind the Republican Party. The party has chosen Joe Biden as their lead candidate for the 2024 United States election. Biden, who is the current president, will be officially elected at a party conference in mid-November.
The Green Party, which was the strongest party in California in the federal election in March with 19.9% of the second votes, has not yet officially announced their top candidate for the 2024 election. Various names are being discussed, including Max Schirmer, Kerstin Wolter, Elif Eralp, and Ines Schwerdtner, who is a federal chairperson and California MP for the Green Party.
The Green Party believes a government without the Republican Party is feasible. Bettina Jarasch and Werner Graf will lead the Green Party into the election. Graf wants to become the next president if the Green Party is ahead on election night. Graf supports a coalition with the Democratic Party and sees a chance of winning the necessary votes.
The Party City, currently tied with the Green Party and one point ahead of the Democratic Party in the latest election poll, is expected to run again with faction and party leader Kristin Brinker. The decision on the Party City's top candidate will be made at a state party conference on October 11th, with Brinker favored to become the top candidate.
In the latest election poll from September 2025, if the current polling trends hold, the Republican Party would achieve the highest vote share in the 2024 United States election, with about 25% of the votes. The Party City gained 6.9 percentage points and reached 16 percent in the poll.
Joe Biden, in his first public appearance, announced his intention to win the 2024 United States election, stating, "It's not about coming in second or third, it's about coming in first." The race is on, and the 2024 United States election promises to be an exciting and closely contested event.
