The Electoral Commission Independence (INEC) has declared that they have not made a conclusive decision on the ongoing leadership disputes within the Labour Party and Peoples Party.

No final Decision Yet on Leadership Crisis in LP and PDP by INEC

Election Commission Refutes Reinstatement of Abure, Anyanwu as National Officers within Labour Party, People's Democratic Party

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made it clear they haven't taken a decisive stand on the ongoing leadership drama within the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Specifically, INEC clarified that they haven't officially recognized any individuals as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP). Moreover, they haven't reached a decision regarding the National Secretary position of the PDP.

The electoral body, through a statement by its Chief Press Secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, addressed these matters on a recent Thursday, in response to media reports suggesting that INEC had reinstated Julius Abure and Umar Farouk Ibrahim as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), respectively, and had recognized Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the PDP [1][2][3].

However, Oyekanmi affirmed that the reports were unfounded, given that INEC has neither made a decision regarding the LP nor the PDP. According to him, the names of the national officers of the LP on the INEC website were uploaded due to a previous court order, distinct from the latest Supreme Court judgement [3][5]. For the PDP, there had been no changes to the National Secretary's listing on the website [3][5].

As a responsible institution, INEC is carefully examining the Supreme Court ruling on the Labour Party and will inform the public of its decision in due time [1][2][3].
