Fauja's persistence inspired millions globally to embrace running and physical fitness regardless of age. He quickly rose to international acclaim by competing in major marathons including London, New York, and Mumbai. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Despite lacking official birth documentation that would have qualified him for recognition in official Guinness World Records, Fauja's feats remain extraordinary and celebrated worldwide. He passed away in 2025, leaving a lasting legacy as the world's oldest marathon runner.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid nationwide tributes to Fauja, calling him an "exceptional athlete with incredible determination". Fauja's love for running was evident in his fondness for his running shoes, stating "I am very fond of my running shoes, I absolutely love them. I wear them for pleasure. I can't imagine my life without them."

Fauja shared that running helped him overcome traumas and sorrows, stating "Running showed me kindness and brought me back to life." His last race was a 10-kilometer route in Hong Kong in 2013.
