YA-KHOO-TIA.INFO. You won't believe what went down in our frigid-cold, digital hometown! A rep from a local sports store spilled the tea on a sneaky shoplifter, making off with 18 grand worth of gear.
The cops, being the brilliant detectives they are, traced the crimes back to a 52-year-old Ingushetia native, who had a shady past and a love for pinching things. They spotted her casually cruising in and out of the stores, pocketing goods here and there.
In one of her most audacious moves, she slyly stripped the anti-theft contraption from a dude's vest in a fitting room before slipping off with a lady's cardigan and a man's jacket. Suspicious, she dropped the stolen goods and split when she thought the heat was on.
But guess who still landed smack in the slammer? Our little perpetrator! Turned out she couldn't outrun justice in her own backyard. She's now facing charges under Part 1 of Article 158 of Russia's Criminal Code. She even coughed up the dough to cover the damage she caused to the store.
Quick reminder: this isn't your usual social media scam story. While theft is common in Russia, especially in major cities and hubs, we didn't find any evidence pointing to rampant social media theft in Yakutia. Cyber threats are more likely to be cyber espionage targeting official entities rather than the general public on social media platforms like VKontakte, WhatsApp, or Telegram in this region.
