Elden Ring offers a character compatibility quiz, modeled after BuzzFeed, to determine your ideal Nightfarer match.

Nail the nightrun with the perfect team composition! There are nine Nightfarers to pick from, and finding the right one can be tricky. But fear not, as FromSoftware has cracked the code with the Elden Ring Nightreign Personality Test.

This ain't your average career guidance quiz—it's more like a classic Buzzfeed quiz, serving up questions about how you like to pass your time and your approach to taking on bosses. Mind you, like most personality tests, you can rig the results to get the character you want. But if you're feeling honest, just go with your gut and pick answers without overthinking.

I took the test and was labeled as the elusive Recluse, an "adaptable ranged magical alchemist" (or a coward hiding behind spells, if you prefer). I've mainly stuck to Ironeye and Revenant so far, but Recluse is shaping up nicely. She's a solid pick for her minor ability to recharge FP while creating cocktails of spells, and her ultimate art imprints sigils on enemies that refill HP and FP upon their demise.

Now, Recluse is more of a support character, so teamwork is crucial for her success. Teammates who dish out consistent and substantial damage and dive headfirst into the fray complement her well. Characters like Wylder, Executioner, or Raider fit the bill.

Perhaps the gods of FromSoftware know me better than I know myself, and maybe I'm destined to be Recluse. But I'll keep a sword handy just in case I need to take matters into my own hands and get up close and personal with a Nightlord.

Find out which Nightfarer aligns with your playstyle and personality:

  1. Melee vs. Ranged: Decide if close-quarter combat or ranged attacks suit your playstyle better. For melee, consider the Wilder, while Ironeye excels at ranged combat.
  2. Spellcasting: If you're magnetic to magic, contemplate characters with high FP (Focus Points) like spellcasters. Try out the Raku with its low HP and high FP.
  3. Survivability: If staying alive is a priority, opt for characters with survivability-enhancing skills, such as the Wilder's passive skill that lets it cheat death once.

Without FromSoftware's specific personality test, the best method to choose a Nightfarer is experimenting with various playstyles and finding your perfect match. Each character has unique abilities and playstyles, so it's about uncovering the one that resonates with your approach to the game.

  1. Winning in an international Elden Ring game might favor using a ranged character like Ironeye, given Recluse's minor ability to recharge FP while creating spell cocktails.
  2. This season's high-stakes Elden Ring fights would benefit from teaming up with a melee character, such as Wylder or Executioner, to complement Recluse's support role and increase overall damage output.
  3. To entertain the audience in a live Elden Ring game broadcast, opt for a Nightfarer with a flamboyant playstyle, like the Raider, who can dive headfirst into the fight for exciting in-game moments.
