Saxony currently free from flood worries - Elbe River Levels Rise in Dresden, but Flood Risk Remains Low
Water levels on the Elbe in Dresden have risen to 3.19 meters, higher than usual for this time of year. Despite the increase, authorities confirm there is no immediate flood risk, and no warnings have been issued.
The current reading of 3.19 meters was recorded at midday on Wednesday. Alert Level 1 for the Elbe in Dresden only begins at four meters, and monitoring stations show levels well below this threshold.
Reservoirs under the State Reservoir Administration still hold nearly all their flood retention capacity. The ongoing thaw has not raised concerns, as river levels remain stable. Mild weather and no significant rainfall are forecast for the coming days, according to the Flood Control Center.
Light rain of under five litres per square meter may arrive from Sunday night, but this is not expected to affect water levels. Historical records show the Elbe reached 9.40 meters during the devastating 2002 floods and 8.77 meters in 2013.
With reservoirs prepared and no heavy rain predicted, the situation remains under control. Authorities continue to monitor the Elbe closely, though no flood warnings have been issued. The current level of 3.19 meters poses no threat to the city.
