Program for Ekhof Festival in Gotha is set - Ekhof Festival 2026 Unites Baroque Theater and Modern Drama in Gotha
The 2026 Ekhof Festival will run from May 23 to October 4 at Friedenstein Palace in Gotha. This year’s event brings together theatre and music in a historic setting. Among the highlights is a new staging of Molière’s The School for Wives, directed by Naemi Friedmann and premiering on July 10.
Friedenstein Palace is home to one of Germany’s oldest Baroque theatres, complete with a working 17th-century stage mechanism. This unique venue will host the festival’s performances, blending tradition with contemporary artistry.
The Ekhof Festival will showcase both established and innovative works in a historic setting. With theatre, opera, and chamber music on offer, the event aims to attract audiences from May through October. The staging of The School for Wives marks one of the festival’s key premieres.
