Ekaterinburg-based Sax and Cello duo debuts first-time performance in Harbin
In an exciting turn of events, the Sax_Cello Duo, composed of Tamara Paramonova (saxophone) and Alexander Tereщuk (cello, baritone), recently performed the world premiere of a new composition titled "March of Autumns" by Ural composer Alexander Zhemchuzhnikov.
The performance took place at the Sverdlovsk State Academic Philharmonic, marking the beginning of a cycle of performances that will be heard on stages across the Sverdlovsk region in the upcoming season.
"March of Autumns" is a cycle of seven parts based on a poem by Russian futurist poet Velimir Khlebnikov. The composition showcases a unique dialogue between poetry and music, with influences from Russian folklore tradition and musical cultures of China, Japan, India, and Kazakhstan.
The Sax_Cello Duo's performance of "March of Autumns" was not the first time they made headlines. They also participated in the XX World Saxophone Congress, where they attended master classes and concerts of performers from various countries, including China, the USA, Asian, European, and South American nations.
During the congress, the duo also performed in Harbin, China, at the small hall of Harbin Opera House Concert Hall. Prior to this, they had performed in cities such as Perm, Sysert, Polevskoy, and Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
It's worth noting that the Sax_Cello Duo is an unusual ensemble due to the combination of saxophone and cello, with the cellist also singing while playing.
While details about the composition "March of Autumns" and its artistic inspiration are scarce, Alexander Zhemchuzhnikov is a contemporary Russian composer known for his chamber music, often blending modern styles with traditional Russian themes. However, no detailed public information or program notes are widely available about "March of Autumns," including its background, the inspiration behind the piece, or confirmed upcoming performances in Russia.
The Sax_Cello Duo plans to introduce the composition by Zhemchuzhnikov to the Russian public, and for authoritative and updated details, it is recommended to check official concert programs, composer interviews, or announcements from the XX World Saxophone Congress organizers and the performers involved. These sources are more likely to provide insights into the composition’s background, the inspiration behind the piece, and confirmed upcoming performances in Russia.
In addition to their performances, the Sax_Cello Duo has implemented author programs at various venues, including the City House of Music, Sverdlovsk Children's Philharmonic, Yeltsin Center, Nizhny Tagil Philharmonic, and others.
