Eisbären Berlin takes 2–1 series lead with 4–2 win over Straubing Tigers

Eisbären Berlin secured a 4–2 victory over Straubing Tigers in the third game of their Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) quarterfinal series. Played in front of a packed crowd at Straubing's Pulverturm Ice Stadium, the win gave Berlin a 2–1 lead in the best-of-seven playoff matchup. Both teams had already split the first two games, setting the stage for a tense showdown.

The scoring began early, with Lester Lancaster putting Eisbären Berlin ahead in the fourth minute. Straubing responded quickly when Michael Connolly levelled the game at 1–1 just three minutes later.

Berlin regained control as Marcel Noebels made it 2–1 in the eleventh minute. Straubing fought back again, with Marcel Brandt netting a power play goal in the twenty-third minute to tie the game at 2–2. The momentum shifted decisively in Berlin's favour before the first period ended. Lean Bergmann scored in the twenty-seventh minute, followed by Ty Ronning just a minute later. The quick succession of goals sealed a 4–2 lead for the visitors, which they held until the final whistle.

The victory moves Eisbären Berlin ahead in the series, with two wins to Straubing's one. Game four will determine whether Berlin can extend their advantage or if Straubing can force a tie. Over 5,600 fans witnessed the result in a sold-out arena.
