Four Polar Bears in the German Olympic Squad - Eisbären Berlin stars lead Germany’s Olympic hockey push for 2026

Four players from Eisbären Berlin have been named to Germany’s Olympic hockey teams for the 2026 Winter Games. The roster includes Kai Wissmann, Jonas Müller, Korbinian Geibel, and Freddy Tiffels. Their selection comes as the national teams prepare for competition in Milan next year.

Jonas Müller and Freddy Tiffels bring Olympic experience to the teams, having competed in either 2018 or 2022. For Kai Wissmann and Korbinian Geibel, the 2026 Games will mark their first appearance at the Olympics.

Coach Harold Kreis has taken a calculated risk by picking Wissmann, who is still recovering from an Achilles tendon injury. The defender is expected to return to the DEL in the coming weeks, giving him limited time to regain full fitness before the tournament.

Meanwhile, two-time Stanley Cup winner Tom Kühnhackl will miss the Olympics due to scheduling conflicts. His NHL team cannot release him in time for the Games. Marcel Noebels and Leo Pföderl were also left off the final teams.

The German teams now focus on final preparations for Milan. Wissmann’s recovery will be closely watched as the teams aim for a strong performance. The mix of Olympic veterans and debutants sets the stage for a competitive tournament.
