Eintracht Frankfurt Considers Can Uzun's Long-Term Future

Frankfurt am Main - Speculation surrounds the future of Can Uzun at Eintracht Frankfurt, with the 19-year-old yet to establish himself as a regular starter. SGE sporting director Markus Krösche has offered insights into the club's plans regarding the young attacking player.

In a year at the club, Uzun has made 31 appearances and scored five goals with three assists. Despite glimpses of potential, he has struggled to secure a consistent starting spot. With increasing voices calling for more playing time or a potential transfer, especially from top Turkish clubs, Krösche has provided an update on the situation.

"I understand the attention from the environment," says Krösche, reflecting on Uzun's arrival with high expectations from 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Nürnberg. "He came here with a lot of hype, and he was one of the standout players in the second league. The excitement is normal. But he's only 19 years old, and he had a very good season with us."

While Krösche stands firm on retaining Uzun's services, he dismisses rumors of an imminent summer transfer. "He's been given playing time, scored goals, even important ones," he notes. "His development is proceeding normally. That will help him take the next step next year."

Uzun joined Eintracht for 11 million euros and is under contract until 2029. The club's strategic approach to young players is to nurture their growth, as Krösche explained, "We always have a three-year plan when we sign young players: arrive in the first year, perform in the second, peak in the third."

If Uzun remains patient and continues to work on his game, he stands a good chance of earning more playing time and establishing himself as a key player for the Main-based side in the future.

Eintracht Frankfurt's Transfer Pursuits

With speculation swirling around Uzun's future, Eintracht is also reportedly on the hunt for a striker. Fabio Silva, who has shown promise with his strong technique and distinct goal-scoring instinct, could be the club's next high-profile signing, with a potential price tag of 40 million euros.
