Blomqvist Scores as Eintracht Women Win at Home - Eintracht Frankfurt edges past Bayer Leverkusen with late header for crucial Bundesliga win

Eintracht Frankfurt's women's team began 2026 with a narrow 1–0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. The decisive goal came in the second half, securing three points in front of 2,700 fans at Stadion am Brentanobad. The win lifts Frankfurt to fifth in the Bundesliga, just three points behind Werder Bremen in third place.

Bayer Leverkusen started strongly, with Vanessa Fudalla striking the post early in the match. Their momentum continued as Friederike Repohl, the recently recovered goalkeeper and captain, was forced off in the 43rd minute after several collisions. Eintracht Frankfurt's defence held firm, though, with Lina Altenburg making a crucial save to deny Fudalla's free kick just before half-time.

The deadlock broke in the 56th minute when Nicole Anyomi delivered a set piece for Rebecka Blomqvist to head home. Frankfurt nearly doubled their lead as captain Laura Freigang squandered late chances. Meanwhile, Rafaela Borggräfe, returning from a six-match ban for a discriminatory remark, entered the pitch to replace Repohl—only to face jeers from the home crowd.

Despite late pressure from Leverkusen, Frankfurt's defence stood firm, ensuring the three points stayed in Hesse.

The victory pushes Eintracht Frankfurt to 27 points in the Bundesliga, closing the gap on the top four. Blomqvist's header proved the difference, while Leverkusen's early chances and Repohl's injury added drama to the contest. Frankfurt will now look to build on this result in their next fixture.
