Eintracht Frankfurt bids farewell to Captain Kevin Trapp.
Kevin Trapp Bids Farewell to Eintracht Frankfurt for Paris FC
After a decade of service, goalkeeper Kevin Trapp has left Eintracht Frankfurt for Paris FC, marking the end of an era for the German club. Trapp, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt from 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2012, became the club's most capped goalkeeper in the Bundesliga, playing a total of 383 competitive games.
Trapp's departure from Eintracht Frankfurt is a difficult pill to swallow for all involved. The captain and long-time goalkeeper grew up, became an adult, and matured with the club. He even won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and qualified for the Champions League for the first time.
Trapp's fiancée, supermodel Izabel Goulart, also lives in Paris, and the goalkeeper speaks fluent French. These factors may have played a role in his decision to move back to the French capital. The transfer fee for his move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Paris FC was approximately €1 million, a notable decrease compared to his previous moves, such as his 2015 transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, which was around €10 million.
Trapp's starting position at Eintracht Frankfurt was not secure due to the emergence of the young Brazilian Kaua Santos, who is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and could be an alternative for Eintracht Frankfurt after the international break in early September. Trapp did not want to sit on the bench and opted to move to Paris FC, where he signed a three-year deal until 2028.
Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt is on the hunt for a new goalkeeper. Various media outlets have mentioned Werder Bremen's starting goalkeeper Michael Zetterer as a possibility. Jens Grahl played in goal for Eintracht Frankfurt in the first round of the DFB Cup against FV Engers, but it remains to be seen whether he will be a permanent solution.
Bernard Arnault, owner of Paris Saint-Germain, is ambitious and wants to establish his club in Europe. With the addition of Trapp, he may be one step closer to achieving that goal. Trapp's experience and leadership will undoubtedly be valuable assets to Paris FC as they strive to compete at the highest level.
Only Oka Nikolov played more competitive games in total for Eintracht Frankfurt. Trapp leaves behind a legacy that will be hard to forget. His contributions to the club will always be remembered, and he will always be considered a true Eintracht Frankfurt legend.
