Bundesliga 2: Eintracht Braunschweig Coach Scherning Stays Positive amid Challenges

Despite the rough start in his tenure as Eintracht Braunschweig's manager in the 2. Bundesliga, Daniel Scherning remains confident in his team's abilities. "Three games into my time at the club, we've always been in contention for points," he said at the matchday press conference ahead of Friday's game (6:30 PM/Sky) against SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

While their first match under Scherning ended in a triumph against VfL Osnabrück (3:2), the following two encounters resulted in narrow defeats against Hamburger SV (1:2) and SpVgg Greuther Fürth (0:1). Currently placed second-last in the table, seven points from the relegation zone, Eintracht Braunschweig is the only team yet to secure a point away from home.

Scherning acknowledges that his players deserved better from their recent performances. "In terms of distance covered, we've been at a top level. Our commitment in Hamburg was second to none, but we just couldn't turn that into a point" he said.

The upcoming opposition, SV Wehen Wiesbaden, is also making headlines, having landed their first promotion to the 2. Bundesliga this season. Despite their current two-game losing streak, Scherning holds the Hessians in high regard. "They've notched up 21 points in 15 games and are playing with a sense of freedom and euphoria since their promotion."

When it comes to the team's personnel, Scherning expects to have Saulo Decarli and Luc Ihorst back in action, albeit with reduced workloads. With two days until the game, the coach is optimistic about his team's performance.
