A nine-story residential building in Sviatoshynskyi was struck by a missile, collapsing the entrance and trapping residents. Four people lost their lives at this site alone. Remarkably, rescuers managed to pull a man out of the debris after five hours, and emergency contact was maintained for others trapped under rubble for hours.
Among the injured were nine children, according to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko. The attacks damaged more than 70 sites across the city, causing widespread destruction. Explosions were also reported in other Ukrainian regions such as Dnipro, Poltava, Sumy, and Mykolaiv.
The United Nations has emphasised the escalating civilian toll and the continuing rescue efforts amid these attacks. Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha described the attacks as "terrible" and "brutal". President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Moscow of deliberately displaying deaths and called on the world to pressure for a "regime change" in Russia.
According to reports, Russia has fired a total of 309 drones and eight cruise missiles at Ukraine since Wednesday evening. The main target of the attacks was the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
