Authorities in Amsterdam have arrested eight individuals in connection with an attack on a fugitive police officer. The arrests took place at an address in Bestevaerstraat, with the suspects being taken to the authority at Scheltemaplein. Meanwhile, in Mainz, two men have been arrested for assaulting an undercover federal police officer before a football match.

The assault in Mainz occurred ahead of the Rhine-Main derby between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Eintracht Frankfurt. The officer was ambushed, knocked to the ground, threatened, and had his mobile phone and service weapon taken. He sustained minor injuries and is currently unable to work. The two primary suspects, aged 26 and 29, have been remanded in custody on charges of aggravated robbery.

Investigators are now focusing on reconstructing the sequence of events in both incidents, determining each suspect’s role, and uncovering their motives. Prosecutors have identified a total of eight individuals allegedly involved in the attack on the officer in Mainz. 1.
