In a thrilling game played in the PSD Bank Dome, Düsseldorfer EG (DEG) faced Red Bull Munich on a chilly evening. The atmosphere was electric, with 12,610 spectators in attendance, eager to witness the action unfold.

The game began with both teams testing each other, probing for weaknesses. It wasn't long before the deadlock was broken, as Bernhard Ebner scored the first goal for DEG from a flick into the top corner (10'). Munich responded quickly with Jonathan Blum scoring the equalizer from a rebound (16').

The second period saw several big chances saved by both goalies, with Andi Eder of Red Bull Munich and Henrik Haukeland of Munich making crucial stops. Trevor Parkes had an opportunity to give DEG the lead, but Haukeland prevented it (25').

The final period was dominated by Munich, but DEG kept up well. Despite Munich's pressure, it was Eder who scored the winning goal for Red Bull Munich, resulting in a 1:2 defeat for DEG, three minutes before the end of regular time. Goalie aus den Birken also saved several big chances for Munich.

A special moment of the game was the tribute to late DEG shareholder Peter Hoberg before the game. Captain Alex Barta played his 1000th game in the DEL ice hockey league, a significant milestone in his career. The occasion was marked with a grand ceremony, a specially designed ring, video greetings from old teammates, and a lap of honor before the first face-off.
