Turkey and Egypt Unite Against Israeli Occupation of Gaza Strip

Turkey and Egypt have united in strong diplomatic opposition against the Israeli government's plan to occupy the remaining parts of the Gaza Strip. This joint stand was evident in a recent meeting between Hakan Fidan, Turkey's Foreign Minister, and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt in New Alamein City.

The meeting, which was also attended by Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, was a diplomatic engagement reflecting broader regional discussions. Both countries view this meeting as a step toward closer bilateral relations and a sign of growing regional coordination against Israeli actions in Gaza.

The Israeli government's plan to occupy Gaza has been condemned as a blatant violation of international law and a threat to regional stability. Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called the plan “inadmissible” and condemned it as a flagrant violation of Palestinian rights and an obstacle to peace. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Israel aims to make Gaza uninhabitable for Palestinians to settle permanent Israeli settlers.

Both countries have publicly declared unified efforts to confront and resist Israel’s occupation plan through diplomatic means. They have called for lifting restrictions on Gaza crossings and participate in regional and international Arab-Islamic forums that have condemned Israel’s plan as illegal and an act of ongoing aggression amounting to crimes against humanity.

Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar are also actively involved in mediating ceasefire proposals with Hamas to provide alternatives to further Israeli territorial expansion in Gaza. The meeting between Turkish and Egyptian ministers is seen as a significant political development, with several Egyptian media outlets characterizing it as such.

Dr. Sama Suleiman, Deputy Chair of the Foreign, Arab, and African Affairs Committee in the Senate and Political Secretary of the Homeland Protectors Party, stated that Fidan's visit reflects a strategic shift in bilateral relations and the rebuilding of trust between Cairo and Ankara. Dr. Mohamed Haroun, Secretary of the Foreign Relations Committee of the "Al-Masryeen" party, expressed support for the meeting, highlighting its role in continuing positive momentum in Cairo-Ankara relations.

In addition to the diplomatic opposition, some media figures have suggested that improved Egypt-Turkey relations could lead to enhanced security cooperation, including the extradition of individuals affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood wanted in Egypt as part of efforts to combat terrorism and ensure regional security and stability.
