Egypt Airport Tragedy: Murder Case Launched Following Kazakhstan Woman's Death

A Casual Conversation About the Tragic Airport Incident

Hey there! Let's chat about the recent happenings at Sharm El Sheikh airport. A terrible accident took place on May 17, where an advertising sign fell and sadly claimed the life of a Kazakhstani citizen (Akmaral Mukanova), and injured two others.

Our consular services were prompt in action, reaching out to the families and offering continuous assistance. The deceased's body was returned on May 21, and our government strongly condemned this tragic event, working closely with Egyptian authorities to ensure safety for our citizens vacationing in Egypt, a popular travel destination for us.

In fact, the Egyptian Minister of Transport has taken the matter under his personal supervision. The Public Prosecution Office and the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation are conducting an investigation, with the Minister himself dispatching a commission to the site. As far as I know, a criminal case has been opened, but details cannot be disclosed yet as they'll be dealt directly with the families involved.

One of the injured persons was a close friend of Akmaral, who has asked for help from our President, government, and embassy to transport her friend's body back to Kazakhstan. There were also reports that airport staff tried to take the passports of the injured immediately after the incident.

Our Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov has spoken about this tragedy, urging thorough investigation into the cause and ensuring the safety of our citizens. The two injured women received medical care and accommodation until they could return home. They're back in Kazakhstan now.
