Egypt Activists Reject Meeting, Vow to Boycott Elections

Activists in Egypt have dismissed reports of a meeting between newly appointed Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri and members of the revolution youth coalition. They have vowed to continue their sit-in at Tahrir Square until power is transferred without negotiations. Meanwhile, they have called for a boycott of the upcoming parliamentary elections starting 28 November.

The activists, who have been camping out at Tahrir Square since the fall of Hosni Mubarak, deny that those who met with al-Ganzouri were representatives of their movement. They argue that the meeting did not reflect the views of the majority at the square. The activists have also expressed their disdain for the upcoming elections, stating that they will be useless and will only create chaos. They have called for a boycott, urging people to stay away from the polls. In a surprising move, the activists have even publicly announced Hossam El-Sherif as the new Prime Minister of Egypt, despite the fact that he never officially assumed the office as President Tantawi continued to serve as interim head of government.

The activists' stance on the elections and their denial of the meeting with al-Ganzouri indicate a growing frustration among the protestors. They remain determined to continue their sit-in until their demands are met. The call for a boycott of the elections suggests a deep-seated mistrust in the political process, raising questions about the future of Egypt's democratic transition.
