Efforts intensify among German law enforcement to thwart imminent assault

In the heart of Düsseldorf, the district of Flingern recently hosted its annual Schützenfest, a traditional German event filled with marksmanship competitions, parades, music, and communal celebrations.

The parade, led by the 2nd chief Erik Stephan, was a sight to behold as around 400 shooters from the 16 Flingeraner societies, along with friendly delegations, marched in unison. The procession began in the afternoon at the Hellweg and made its way towards the Liebfrauenkirche.

The highlight of the event was the coronation of the new regimental king and queen. This year, the title of shooter king was won by Lucas Jansen, while Rebecca Dolinsky was crowned the new regimental king of the regiment Flingern. The junior shooter king crown was bestowed upon Katharina Schäfer. The regimental king couple Michael and Ivonne Gräler, the junior shooter queen Jessica Möllenbrock, the shooter king Sascha Scheuß, and the page queen Marie Glasmacher inspected the ranks of the assembled shooters before the parade.

The event also marked the 150th anniversary of the 2nd society, which was celebrated with an impressive flower horn. The great regimental coronation ball concluded the shooting festival on Tuesday evening, and the great tattoo brought the festival of the regiment Flingern to an end.

The society Andreas Hofer, a key part of the festival, recently celebrated its 100th anniversary and has undergone a renewal. Numerous honorary guests had already gathered in the shade of the Liebfrauenkirche for the parade, and water carriers provided the shooters with drinks whenever the procession briefly stopped due to the hot weather.

Despite the heat, the shooters divided into three battalions and mostly received marching ease from the colonel. Further impressions of the procession and parade can be found in the picture gallery. The target of the procession was the Liebfrauenkirche, where the festival concluded with the great regimental coronation ball.

The parade, led by the 2nd chief Erik Stephan, included several societies participating in sports, such as the 16 Flingeraner societies, where sports like marksmanship were showcased. After the coronation of the new regimental king and queen, the society Andreas Hofer, a key part of the festival, celebrated its 100th anniversary with renewal, also showcasing sports-related activities.
