RBB's Chief Editor Steps Down Over Hair Dye Allegations - Editor Resigns Due to Controversial Yellow-Hair Coverage

Steamin' Scandal! The Yellow Hair Reporting Fiasco at Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) has stirred up some havoc.

Katrin Günther, the RBB Program Director, and David Biesinger, the Editor-in-Chief, have bounced, according to the broadcaster's announcement on a wild Friday. Günther lingers in her post on a temporary basis till she's replaced. Stephanie Pieper, mind you, dons the interim Editor-in-Chief's hat.

Stefan Gelbhaar: Firing Back at Flawed Reporting

Stefan Gelbhaar, a member of the German Bundestag, shelves his candidacy for the Berlin state list and triumphantly becomes the direct candidate for the electoral district of Berlin-Pankow. But the central charges against him? Seems they're as phony as a three-dollar bill. The accuser, you ask? Went and penned a false affidavit under an alias.

Gelbhaar ain't sweating it; he's lawyered up, along with the party. A few ladies still stick to their accusations, though exactly what's been claimed ain't entirely crystal clear.

RBB: Time for a Change

The RBB gets an independent commission to probe the accusations. Director Ulrike Demmer conveys the consequences are intended to set the scene for the RBB's standards to be actually respected. "We aim to restore the swear-on trust of our audience in the unbiased, reliable, and unadulterated reporting of the RBB."

The RBB shares their plans for change. Future investigative teams of the broadcaster should be bundled when tackling investigations of such proportions. The editorial staff should keep an eye on such investigations. Also, mandatory training on reporting suspicions is in the pipeline.
