Schalke Coach Muslić Counters Dzeko Question Wittyly - Edin Džeko poised for emotional Schalke 04 return to the Bundesliga
Sky reports that AC Florence striker Edin Džeko is set to join Schalke 04. The 38-year-old forward has a long history in German football, having previously played for VfL Wolfsburg. His potential move reunites him with Schalke coach Miron Muslić, a fellow Bosnian with whom he shares a connection.
Džeko first arrived in Germany in 2007 when he signed for Wolfsburg. During his three years there, he helped the club win the Bundesliga title in 2009. The following season, he claimed the league’s top scorer award with 22 goals.
Now at AC Florence, Džeko is reportedly nearing a transfer to Schalke. The link has grown stronger due to his relationship with Schalke manager Miron Muslić. Both men have roots in Bosnia-Herzegovina—Džeko was born there, while Muslić fled the country as a child during the war. When asked about the transfer speculation, Muslić declined to comment. However, sources close to the club suggest Schalke have been tracking Džeko for some time. If completed, the deal would bring the experienced striker back to the Bundesliga after a decade away.
Džeko’s arrival would add firepower to Schalke’s attack and reunite him with a coach from his home country. The club has yet to confirm any agreement, but reports indicate the move could be finalised soon. His experience and goal-scoring record would make him a key asset for the upcoming season.
