Edie Murphy selects Mount Rushmore of his top movies, yet neglects to include one of his most renowned films, leaving audiences in disbelief.

In an interview on Complex's 360 With Speedy, Eddie Murphy revealed his personal "Mount Rushmore" of films that represent the pinnacle of his career. The list, which showcases different aspects of his repertoire, includes The Nutty Professor, Shrek, Coming to America, and Dreamgirls.

Surprisingly, Murphy's list does not include Beverly Hills Cop, one of his most popular films. This omission was unexpected, given the movie's significance in his career and its impact on the buddy cop genre.

Beverly Hills Cop, a 1984 comedy film, tells the story of young Detroit cop Axel Foley traveling to Beverly Hills to find his friend's killer. The movie is filled with humorous scenes, such as Axel's hotel check-in and his "super cops" speech. Eddie Murphy's performance in the film exudes exuberance and charm, giving shades of Bugs Bunny in the best ways possible.

Interestingly, Murphy struggled a bit with choosing just four films and even made a late swap during the interview, removing 48 Hrs. to include Dreamgirls instead. The reason for excluding Beverly Hills Cop was not explicitly detailed, but the omission was noted by observers.

Despite not making it to Murphy's personal "Mount Rushmore", Beverly Hills Cop remains a classic film that boosted Murphy's status as a movie star and spawned a franchise. Fans can stream the film with a Paramount+ subscription.

In the interview, Murphy considered The Nutty Professor to be his best performance as an actor. The Nutty Professor, released in 1996, is a comedy film where Murphy plays multiple roles, including that of the obese professor Sherman Klump and his slim alter ego Buddy Love.

Looking ahead, fans can stream Murphy's 2025 movie release, The Pickup, with a Prime Video subscription. Murphy's hypothetical "Mount Rushmore" may evolve over time, but for now, it offers an interesting glimpse into the actor's perspective on his illustrious career. As for the writer, a decision on their own Murphy "Mount Rushmore" is yet to be made.
