Eddie Dunbar Targets UCI Road World Championships to Support Ben Healy

Eddie Dunbar, the Irish cyclist, has set his sights on the UCI Road World Championships, where he will be supporting Ben Healy in his bid for victory. Dunbar's decision comes after a successful stint at the Vuelta a España, where he secured a Grand Tour stage win in the second week of the race.

The Vuelta a España, a gruelling cycling race, saw Dunbar mount a lone charge in Picón Blanco, finishing just off the main pack of General Classification (GC) contenders. Despite the close finish, the overall classification was virtually settled at Picón Blanco, with the favourite Jonas Vingegaard maintaining a significant time advantage.

Vingegaard, who won the penultimate mountain stage to Bola del Mundo, is once again the favourite to win the last mountain stage of the Vuelta a España 2025. However, it's worth noting that both Vingegaard and João Almeida are not in top climbing form this year, opening up possibilities for other contenders.

The Irish team's goal at the UCI Road World Championships is to have numbers in the final. Ben Healy, a leader of EF in one-day races, is a favourite for the event and will be looking to capitalise on his form.

The Vuelta a España stage on Saturday promises to be a tough one, with multiple teams, including Red Bull-Bora and Q36.5, showing potential to win stages. The Cyclingnews team will provide breaking news, analysis, and more from the 2025 Vuelta a España, ensuring fans stay up-to-date with all the action.

After a tough time following a crash at the Tour and getting sick, Eddie Dunbar is recovering and looking forward to the challenge of the UCI Road World Championships. As he gears up to support Ben Healy, fans can expect another strong performance from the Irish cyclist.
