Scientific Games Expands Lottery Business in Ecuador and Quebec
In a move to extend its global reach, Scientific Games, a leading provider of lottery games and digital gaming solutions, has signed new contracts with the Ecuador National Lottery and Loto-Quebec in Canada.
The Ecuador National Lottery, a major nonprofit organization that has been operating since 1888, aims to reinvigorate its activities with the help of Scientific Games. Under the 10-year agreement, Scientific Games will develop unique instant scratch-offs specific to the province of Quebec and provide a range of lottery systems, retail technology, and a raffle-based lottery game system.
Meanwhile, the contract with Loto-Quebec, which was extended for a five-year term, makes Scientific Games the primary instant games partner for the lottery. The company has already managed to improve its financial situation by figuring out how to get out of debt and by dropping plans to purchase SciPlay and offloading certain assets.
In Quebec, Scientific Games has invested millions in its facility, demonstrating its commitment to the region. The new agreement will see the company develop innovative instant games tailored to the Quebec market, building on the 52-year-old arrangement between Scientific Games and Loto-Quebec, during which the gaming company developed more than 4,500 instant games.
The proceeds from the sale of instant games and sweepstakes in Ecuador will benefit the Guayaquil Board of Beneficence, an organisation with a vision to expand its social and charitable work to every corner of Ecuador. The Board aims to provide more support for people in conditions of vulnerability and extreme poverty.
Scientific Games' strategic focus on modernizing lottery retail and digital experiences supports the likelihood of expansion efforts in markets including Ecuador and Quebec.
