EBF Announces New Leadership: Emma Berry to Succeed Simon Sweeting

The British European Breeders Fund (EBF) has announced changes in its leadership. Simon Sweeting, who has served two terms as chair and been a trustee since 2015, will step down in January 2026. Emma Berry will succeed him as chair, with James Kirman, George Duggan, and Tim Misselbrook appointed as trustees.

Sweeting's tenure saw significant developments. He oversaw the launch of the successful £100,000 2yo Finals and expanded high-value development races. Under his guidance, the EBF introduced a £2 million two-year-old series and allocated over £1.4 million to prizemoney, including during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Emma Berry, who will take over as chair, appreciates the EBF's role in supporting racing through a unified approach. She will be joined by new trustees Roisin Close, Colin Bryce, and Kate Sigsworth in 2026. Gary Middlebrook and Claire Sheppard will leave the EBF after their terms.

The EBF's leadership changes aim to build on Sweeting's achievements. Berry, Kirman, Duggan, Misselbrook, Close, Bryce, and Sigsworth will work together to continue supporting British racing and breeding.
