In the eastern provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian, China, an emergency response is currently underway due to the approaching Typhoon Danas. The typhoon, classified as a severe typhoon, made landfall in Taiwan early on July 7, 2025, and is now moving westward over the Taiwan Strait.

As of July 7, Typhoon Danas was located about 175 km southeast of the Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, packing maximum sustained winds of about 30 m/s (108 km/h). The typhoon is forecast to continue north-northeastward at 15–20 km/h, weakening gradually, before turning southwestward on the morning of July 8 and approaching the coastal areas from Taizhou in Zhejiang to Fuzhou in Fujian.

The emergency response in these provinces is a coordinated effort between local authorities and relevant agencies. The operation to secure a mooring vessel at Sanjiangkou Wharf in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, is being conducted by police officers and crew members. This operation is taking place under the ongoing Level-IV emergency response to flooding in Zhejiang and Fujian provinces.

The emergency response in the affected areas is primarily focused on minimizing damage and loss of life due to the approaching typhoon. The operation to secure the mooring vessel at Sanjiangkou Wharf is part of this effort, aiming to prevent any potential disruptions caused by the typhoon.

Taiwan has already experienced significant disruptions due to Typhoon Danas, including the suspension of classes and work in multiple counties and cities on July 6–7. As of July 7, Taiwan reported two fatalities and over 330 injuries due to the typhoon.

On the Chinese side, direct impacts on Zhejiang and Fujian are anticipated starting July 8. By July 8, Danas made two landfalls along Zhejiang’s coast, at Dongtou District and Rui'an, before moving inland and dissipating by July 9. This resulted in windy, stormy conditions for eastern Zhejiang and Fujian, though significantly weaker than during its Taiwan landfall.

The Chinese Ministry of Water Resources activated a Level-IV emergency response to flooding in the eastern provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian due to the potential threat posed by Typhoon Danas. As the typhoon approaches, it is crucial for everyone in the affected areas to stay safe and follow the instructions of local authorities.
