The Daring Drone Strike: Ukraine's Sneak Attack on Russias Far-East Airbases

"Eastern Siberia Assault by Kiev": This reveals the strategy Kiev utilized to launch attacks on Eastern Siberia

In a shocking move just before proposed peace talks, Ukraine launches a coordinated drone assault on four Russian military airbases, one even reaching deep into Siberia. This operation, allegedly planned over a year ago, is said to have been orchestrated from the highest echelons of power.

What happened?

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) appears to have used a swarm of First-Person-View drones to strike four Russian military airbases, destroying numerous aircraft, including strategic bombers with nuclear capabilities. The assault even targeted an airbase in Irkutsk, Siberia, located about 4,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian-Russian border. Russian media confirmed the Irkutsk attack. Videos on social media reportedly show widespread smoke plumes over the Belaya airbase in Irkutsk.

The targets also included air defense bases in Dyagilevo, Ivanovo, and Olenia in the Murmansk region in Russian Arctic. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed these targets. Moscow also reported the apprehension of several suspects.

What was destroyed?

According to Ukrainian claims, over 40 combat and reconnaissance aircraft of Russia were destroyed or damaged, including Tu-95 and Tu-22 long-range bombers and specialized early warning aircraft Beriev A-50. The Tu-95 is a long-range bomber capable of carrying both nuclear and conventional munitions, while the Tu-22 is a medium-range bomber.

Explosions and Sabotage Close to the Negotiations

Just before the scheduled negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, two bridges in the Russian border regions of Brjansk and Kursk collapsed, prompting numerous train derailments and tragic loss of life. Russian authorities suspected sabotage. Beyond the drone attack and the damaged bridges, tensions were already high as the United States announced plans to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles, potentially deepening the conflict.

How did it reach Eastern Siberia?

Unverified reports suggest that the Ukrainian Security Service deployed combat drones from hidden locations in wooden houses loaded onto trucks. At the right moment, the roofs of these houses were remotely opened, and the drones flew to attack Russian bombers. Videos circulating on social media seem to show the launch of the drones, while pictures published by Ukrinform show crates full of drones that were allegedly used in the attack, stacked on top of each other. It is possible that hundreds of drones were involved in the operation. Reports also hint at a planned fifth attack deep within Russian territory that may have been thwarted when one of the trucks carrying the drones caught fire. According to unconfirmed reports, the Ukrainian airbase in the Russian region of Amur was the intended target. The Russian Defense Ministry also confirmed Amur as the intended target.

  1. Amidst the escalating political tensions between Russia and Ukraine, the Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, given the increased likelihood of radiation exposure due to military activities.
  2. The recent drone attacks on Russian military airbases, which have stirred general news, are not the first instance where policy and legislation concerning war-and-conflicts are scrutinized in the political realm.
  3. Meanwhile, in the world of sports, athletes are encouraged to prioritize their health and safety when faced with risks related to ionizing radiation, such as those potentially arising from contaminated training facilities, in order to maintain their fitness and performance levels.
