Easter Sunday Deadly Shooting Suspect Sought: Streator Resident
Fresh Take:
Suspect Tyler Skerett, 30, from Streator, has landed himself in hot water after a chilling Easter Sunday shooting spree. He's now staring down the barrel of some heavy charges, including three counts of murder, two attempts, and two aggravated battery charges, amongst others. The La Salle County district attorney's office wasn't kidding when they whacked him with those charges!
The shooting occurred at the bustling intersection of Main Street and Sterling Street, where Skerett allegedly opened fire on a vehicle, claiming the life of a 17-year-old and injuring two others. The poor teen's name, along with those of the survivors, is being kept under wraps for now.
Just before the tragic event, Skerett had a case of retail theft filed against him in Ottawa. At that time, he was living in Peru, not Streator as some might have pegged it.
As of noon on April 23, 2025, the authorities are yet to nab our suspect. They're urging anyone with info on Skerett's whereabouts to give them a shout. Keep your eyes peeled, folks!
The police have also managed to get their hands on a pic of Skerett, so you can get a good look at him if you happen to spot him. Don't be afraid to share the image on social media, as every set of eyes on the case could help in bringing this suspected killer to justice.
One more individual, Charles Spencer, has been nabbed for possessing a firearm as a repeat felony offender, but he's not been tied to the Easter Sunday shooting yet. He's due for a hearing on May 1, 2025, and plans to hire a private attorney to argue for his release.
The police are also investigating another shooting that happened the previous Saturday night. Thankfully, no one was hurt in that incident. The Streator police are keeping tight-lips on the matter, jut like a fortunately secluded crab.
