Earthquake of magnitude 7.4 triggers tsunami alert in Chile

A Mighty Mofo of an earthquake rocked the southern coasts of Chile and Argentina over the weekend, causing quite a ruckus and sending authorities scrambling.

The USGS (yeah, those cat-loving geeks) declared that this 7.4-magnitude seaquake's epicenter lurked beneath the sea, around 219km south of Ushuaia, Argentina's frostiest border town.

In response, Chile has gone batshit crazy, issuing a tsunami warning for the entire Magallanes region, which is Chile's polar opposite. They're asking everyone to ditch the beach and all Antarctic territory hangout spots.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric took to the digital streets, assuring that all necessary resources would be on standby for whatever emergencies may arise. Boric pleaded with the people to heed the authorities' word and evacuate the coastline in Magallanes.

Residents in Punta Arenas, Chile's pretty little town on the Strait of Magellan, were spotted running around like headless chickens, searching for shelter amidst the chaos. Roberto Ramírez, a local, reported that despite the hullabaloo, people remained cool and collected.

Meanwhile, in Ushuaia, Argentina's deep south city, the local whip decided to suspend all water activities in the Beagle Channel for at least three hours. SBH (Shit just got real, guys) in Ushuaia and other towns across the province felt the ground shaking.

The good news? No imminent reports of damage or casualties in either Argentina or Chile. Phew!
