Early ski season in Allgäu triggers mountain rescues and avalanche control

The ski season has kicked off early in the Allgäu region after fresh snowfall. Mountain rescue teams have already responded to their first callouts, with incidents reported at Söllereck and controlled avalanche blasting at Fellhorn and Nebelhorn. At Söllereck, the Oberstdorf Mountain Rescue Service—known locally as Bergwacht Söllereck—handled three separate incidents on the slopes. Two of these required helicopter support to transport those involved safely down to the valley. Medical assistance was provided on-site before evacuation. The early start to the ski season has kept rescue teams busy with both emergencies and preventative measures. Avalanche control work at Fellhorn and Nebelhorn aims to secure slopes for skiers, while the incidents at Söllereck highlight the importance of rapid response in alpine environments.
