Philadelphia Eagles' Landon Dickerson Undergoes Minor Knee Procedure

Landon Dickerson, the Philadelphia Eagles' Pro Bowl left guard, is set to undergo a minor procedure on his right knee to address a meniscus issue sustained during a recent practice injury. The team is hopeful that he will be ready for the start of the regular season in Week 1.

The injury occurred during a pass play in practice, and Dickerson was helped off the field, putting minimal weight on his right leg. The procedure is considered minor, and the injury avoided a major meniscus tear, which is positive news for the Eagles given Dickerson’s importance to their offensive line.

The Eagles will rely more on backups and newly integrated players such as right guard Tyler Steen to fill gaps during the preseason. Dickerson's presence is crucial to the Eagles' top-ranked offensive line, as he has started 62 of 63 regular-season games and nine playoff games for the team. His ability to pave the way for star running back Saquon Barkley, who had a record-breaking 2024, underscores his value.

Last season, Dickerson earned a 79.2 overall Pro Football Focus grade, ranking 13th among 136 qualifying guards. The team hopes he will recover quickly enough to start in Week 1, as losing him long-term would be a significant setback. However, current updates suggest optimism about his return without long-term limitation from the surgery.

Meanwhile, backup linemen will carry the load through the rest of preseason activities, with the Eagles' home preseason game against the Cleveland Browns scheduled for Saturday. The team's regular season opener is scheduled for Sept. 4, at home against the Dallas Cowboys. Dickerson was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
