Each day, the marmot offers a warm welcome
The weather forecast for Germany in the coming days suggests a short interruption of the hot weather, followed by a rapid return to warm, dry, and mostly sunny conditions.
According to meteorologist Sonja Stueckle from the German Weather Service (DWD), this weekend will bring showers, thunderstorms, and heavy rain across Germany. The weather theme for Saturday and Sunday is 'Groundhog Day', with mostly cloudy and partly rainy conditions. On Sunday, regional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected across the country.
The west and southwest regions of Germany will have the most sunshine, while storm force gusts will occur at the coasts and in the high north of northern Germany. The highest temperatures on Saturday will range from 17 to 24 degrees Celsius, with Sunday seeing similar temperatures.
After a brief period of wind and showers linked to a cold front early in the week, the heat dome pattern is expected to re-establish and possibly extend the heatwave deeper into mid-August. This suggests that after the brief interruption, the country will once again experience hot and dry weather conditions.
The northeast region of Germany is expected to be the driest, while in northern Germany, it will become windy due to a storm. After Tuesday, the south of Germany will become partly sunny, with temperatures gradually rising. After Tuesday, summer will gradually return to the south of Germany.
The overall weather pattern indicates a continuation of hot and fairly dry weather with frequent heatwaves, consistent with a Europe-wide pattern of above-average August temperatures and scarce rain. This means that after the brief period of showers and thunderstorms, the country can expect another extended period of hot, dry, and mostly sunny conditions.
Wind will play a minor role in the coming days, but can briefly become strong or stormy in conjunction with showers and thunderstorms. It is important to note that the weather will generally be sunny, with wildfire hazards elevated in dry areas.
The upcoming week (early to mid-August 2025) is expected to be predominantly warm to hot conditions with daytime temperatures ranging between 28 to 32 °C, with heatwaves possible especially around mid-August. Night temperatures are expected between 14 to 18 °C. Rainfall will be below normal, with about 3 to 5 days of rain totaling around 30 to 50 mm.

Despite the brief return of showery and thunderstorm conditions this weekend, the weather forecast for the rest of the coming days in Germany indicates a return to hot and dry weather conditions, similar to what was experienced before. With this pattern, the country can expect another extended period of hot, dry, and mostly sunny conditions, as suggested by the German Weather Service (DWD), Meteorological Service of Norway, and European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
