"Each day marks the marmot's cheerful salutation"
After a series of hot days in early August, Germany is preparing for a somewhat milder weekend, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). Meteorologist Sonja Stueckle made the forecast, predicting mostly cloudy and partly rainy weather.
The forecast does not predict a summery weekend in Germany. Instead, scattered showers and individual thunderstorms will occur on Sunday, primarily in regions other than the west and southwest. The northeast region is expected to be the driest during the weekend. Maximum temperatures on Sunday will range from 17 to 24 degrees Celsius, remaining moderately warm.
On Saturday, temperatures are expected to range from 17 to 24 degrees Celsius as well. The west and southwest of Germany will experience the most sunshine and longer periods of dry weather on Sunday.
Meteorologist Stueckle also predicts changes in the weather pattern to begin at the start of next week. After Tuesday, summer weather will gradually return to the south of Germany, with partly sunny conditions and temperatures rising.
In northern Germany, a storm will cause windy conditions, with gusts reaching storm force at the coasts and in the high north. Only in specific instances of showers and thunderstorms will the wind become strong to stormy.
The DWD has issued a forecast for the weekend, predicting mostly cloudy and partly rainy weather. While the weather may not be ideal for a summer barbecue, it is important to remember that German weather is known to be somewhat unpredictable with rapid changes possible.
Overall, after some hot days at the start of August with heatwave possibilities, the weather from Monday onward will remain warm but less extreme than the peak heat days, with periodic dry and sunny spells expected. Rainfall is generally low but not absent, with about 3–5 days of rain during August in Central Europe. This suggests relatively stable weather with typical August warmth and some variability in precipitation.
