E-bike Rider Injured in Euskirchen Collision: Not Holding Handlebar, Using Phone

A 40-year-old e-bike rider from Bad Münstereifel was injured in a collision with a car in Euskirchen-Kreuzweingarten on Tuesday afternoon. The rider, who was not holding the handlebars and using a mobile phone, was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The incident occurred at 1:32 PM on Josef-Gebertz-Straße. A 51-year-old car driver from Euskirchen was attempting to turn right onto Hubertusstraße and failed to yield to the e-bike rider, who had the right of way. The e-bike rider, traveling straight along Josef-Gebertz-Straße, was unable to react safely due to not holding the handlebars. Police remind that using a mobile phone while riding a bike is prohibited and can lead to dangerous situations like this one.

The e-bike rider's injuries are being treated at a local hospital. Police are investigating the incident and remind all road users to adhere to traffic rules and stay attentive to avoid similar accidents.
