By Thomas Nahrendorf
Dresden - "It's showtime again," belted out Roland Kaiser (73) once. The summer break is over for the Dynamo pros, and it's time to get sweaty. The temperatures are expected to reach a sweltering 35 degrees! Two players will be absent at the kickoff on Sunday at 3 pm: Niklas Hauptmann (28) is still recovering from surgery, and Claudio Kammerknecht (25) is on an international trip with Sri Lanka in mid-June.
Kammer will join up with the team a few days later, but "Haupe" might take longer to return. While the club hasn't revealed the exact nature of Hauptmann's surgery, sources indicate that it was performed during the summer break to alleviate persistent discomfort.
Hauptmann had been playing through the pain during the spring, but he only participated in light training sessions. Coach Thomas Stamm (42) spoke of his struggles after Dynamo's 4-1 triumph over Saarbrücken at Easter, a match Hauptmann helped secure with a spectacular goal.
"The discomfort has been there, but adrenaline masks the pain," Hauptmann admitted at the time. As of now, around 20 Dynamo players are expected at the training ground, including some from the "U19" and "U21" teams.
A Promising Star for Dynamo's FutureThe training ground is conveniently located right behind the Konsum market on Meißner Landstraße. The gates at Cossebaude will open at 2 pm.
