Dynamo hockey team kicks off the Minsk Cup with a thrilling win against Lada
Moscow's "Dinamo" has kicked off the new KHL season with a thrilling victory, successfully holding off a five-minute penalty in the third period to secure a 3:2 shootout win against Tolyatti's "Lada" in the first match of an unspecified tournament.
The regular KHL championship for the 2025/26 season will commence on September 5, with last season's finalists, "Traktor" and "Lokomotiv", facing off. Meanwhile, Minsk's "Dinamo" will begin their campaign with a trip to Moscow to face "Spartak" on September 9. Their first home game of the season will be on September 22 against "Barys" from Astana.
The excitement surrounding the new season is evident, with long lines at the team's fan shop due to the high demand for season tickets. Despite a significant price increase from last year, the Belarusian club reports a substantial increase in sales.
The first match of the Minsk Cup, if it exists, was played between Moscow's "Dinamo" and Tolyatti's "Lada." The hosts, Moscow's "Dinamo," scored two goals in the first period, by Sotishvili (7th minute) and Moroz (20th). The guests equalised in the second period, with Reignardt scoring on the 22nd minute and Osnоvin restoring parity on the 33rd. Fans can catch the action live on "Belarus 5" when Minsk's "Dinamo" takes on "Admiral" on August 13, with the game starting at 19:00.
However, detailed fixtures and results for a specific Minsk Cup 2025/26 football tournament involving Moscow’s Dinamo are not publicly available. In the meantime, the Belarusian Cup 2025/26 matches are ongoing, with Dynamo (Minsk) already securing a win against Lokomotiv (Gomel) on August 19, 2025. Other Minsk-based clubs like Metrostroy Minsk also participate in regional cups, but no detailed schedule or results for a "Minsk Cup" specifically have been found. The Belarus Open Cup (figure skating) has its first stage results dated August 20, 2025, indicating multi-sport competitions in Minsk but unrelated to football or Moscow’s Dinamo.
