Dwindling Funds, after shedding his maiden status, has been in impressive form, winning five of his last seven starts. The colt's victory came under the guidance of Lauren Young.
David Allan's double began with Daizen winning the 6f maiden, the gelding's third start since the procedure. Allan then rode a tactical race on Cisco Disco, knowing when to make his move. The horse, trained by R Mike Smith, won the 1m2f handicap by a length and a quarter, ending a 13-race losing streak at the track. Smith had discussed the race plan with owner Camille Macdonald beforehand, choosing the track for Cisco Disco. The victory was Cisco Disco's third in the last four starts, demonstrating his ability to run over a mile or a mile and a quarter, thanks to the current ground conditions.
