The German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach is mulling over the possibility that a furious whirlwind may have ravaged Ulm-Donaustetten late yesterday into today. DWD's Adrian Leyser suggests a swift tornado couldn't be definitively ruled out, echoing that an on-site assessment is crucial for establishing the facts. "A full assessment, including an inspection of the damages, will likely take place in the coming days," Leyser stated.
Earlier, the DWD in Stuttgart was on the fence about a tornado occurring. A meteorologist shared their doubts, commenting, "We are quite skeptical; we believe it wasn't a tornado." The Ulm fire department, however, allegedly received eyewitness reports of a tornado taking place.
Resembling a wild catastrophe, the storm damaged multiple row houses' roofs in the Donaustetten district, but thankfully, no injuries were reported[1][2][3]. Fire officials keeping abreast of the situation suspect a small tornado or waterspout may have wreaked havoc, but an official verdict from the DWD is still pending[1][3].
