Dutch gas pipeline dismantled with cutting-edge underwater saw technology

A gas pipeline in the Netherlands is being dismantled using an advanced underwater saw, the Arvi saw, provided by Arvi Equipment BV. This saw replaces manual cutting with precise mechanical techniques and has now gained full approval from Gasunie after passing rigorous tests. Van den Heuvel Engelen Infra is carrying out the work on a pipeline with a 12 mm wall thickness and a diameter of over 45 cm. The saw cuts the pipe every 60 metres before dividing it into five-metre sections for removal. The new method improves efficiency and safety in pipeline removal, as it allows workers to avoid manual cutting while maintaining strict environmental and safety controls. The system is now fully operational for future infrastructure projects in the Netherlands.
