"Dustin Johnson Expresses Confidence in Competing for His Second US Open Title at Oakmont: 'My Game is Nearly There'"

Unleashed and Unfiltered:

Dustin Johnson's Major performances since joining LIV Golf have left a lot to be desired, with only two top 10 finishes in a dozen outings at the big events. But don't let that drag his spirits down! He's ready to take on Oakmont for the US Open, the very course where he clinched his victory nine years ago.

You see, the big fella's game is showing some promising signs. He finished a respectable T10 at last week's LIV event in Virginia, and at 40, he's confident that he's not too far from recapturing his glory days, despite the odd kinks that need straightening out.

"I feel like my game's been really close," Johnson admitted to reporters. "I haven't really got a lot out of it. So it was definitely nice to have a nice finish last week."

However, let's not forget the massive stumble at the PGA Championship, where he missed the cut with a 12-over score. But Johnson isn't buying it - he thinks his performance was better than the scorecard suggests.

"I know my score didn't reflect it at the PGA, but I actually played way better than the score," he insisted. "I just struggled a bit on the greens."

Confidence was also high for Johnson before The Masters, as he expressed that his game wasn't too far off the 2020 Augusta National-winning form. But that revelry ended with another missed cut. Yet, he remains steadfast, insisting that he's closer than he's been in a while to rediscovering his prime self.

Johnson also brushed off accusations that his switch to LIV Golf had dulled his edge, asserting that golf is a fickle sport. "Golf is a strange sport. I don't feel like I've slipped any," he stated. "My scores haven't reflected, but it is a really fine line."

Despite facing the PGA Tour's elite only four times a year, Johnson doesn't feel the pressure building up. "No, not really," he said. "It's still a Major. It's still the same amount of pressure no matter where you're playing."

So there you have it, folks! Dustin Johnson, the Pittsburg Course tamer, is back to reclaim his throne at Oakmont. Let's see if he can shake off those green demons and return to the form we know and love!
