Engaging with Duster, a Max original, has been an enjoyable experience for me. Yet, I'm finding it hard to find others who are also tuning in to this series.

"Duster Stands as the Hottest Streaming Show Currently, Yet There's a Mysterious Silence Surrounding It"

Several standout television shows have graced the 2025 schedule, including the gripping Adolescence, the intense The Last of Us, and the hilarious The Studio. However, a hidden gem has emerged that has captured my attention: the enthralling '70s crime thriller, Duster. Created by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, the series is currently available exclusively through a Max subscription.

Duster follows the exploits of getaway driver Jim "Duster" Ellis, portrayed by Josh Holloway, and young FBI agent Nina Hayes, played by Rachel Hilson, as they pursue a powerful crime boss, Keith David. Stylish and swaggering, Duster has the potential to join the pantheon of great crime dramas. Yet, despite its allure, the show seems to be flying under the radar, and I'm at a loss to explain why.

Fans of prepaid subscription services can save up to $41 on annual Max plans. The cheapest monthly plan starts at $9.99 or $16.99 when bundled with Disney Plus and Hulu.

I've only scratched the surface of Duster (which premiered in May 2025), but I've been hooked since I started watching. Josh Holloway's reunion with J.J. Abrams is generating a level of anticipation that I usually try to avoid. This show is so good that, had it been released all at once, I would have stayed up late to watch the whole season in a day.

From the striking '70s-inspired intro to the effortless coolness of Josh Holloway's Jim Ellis, the show exudes charisma. In one episode, Ellis attempts to steal Elvis' famous blue suede shoes for a mysterious crime boss, adding a dash of unexpected charm to the gritty narrative.

Although Duster has generated positive reviews for its compelling storylines and nostalgic vibe, it hasn't been the topic of much discussion. While I am captivated by the show, I feel like an isolated viewer when I talk about it. It's unfortunate, as Duster is telling a captivating story with memorable characters and a distinctly cool atmosphere.

If you're not already subscribed to Max, now might be the perfect time to join and discover this not-so-secret gem of a series. New episodes of Duster air every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on Max, and I cannot recommend it enough.
