Prepare for a thrilling celebration of Japanese culture as Japan Day 2025 approaches in Düsseldorf! On May 24, the city will transform into a vibrant hub of Japanese traditions, music, and sports.

However, at the moment, no detailed schedule for the event's stages and activities has been released. To stay updated, keep an eye on the official Japan Day Düsseldorf website or their verified social media channels as the date approaches.

The day promises a plethora of activities for visitors. From 11 AM, you can explore around 90 stands along the Lower Rhine Embankment, where you can immerse yourself in Japanese culture, including a Samurai encampment, Kyudo archery, and children's activities on the market square.

Sports enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the Sports Stage on the Lawn at the State Parliament will host various competitions, such as Judo, Kyudo, Iaido, Jiu-Jitsu, Kendo, Naginata, and Hokushin Itto-ryu Hyōhō Sport.

For those seeking a more relaxed experience, the Pop Culture Stage at Johannes-Rau-Platz will host events like the Cosplay Contest, Karaoke Competition, and Super Act.

The Main Stage on Burgplatz will feature multiple performances throughout the day, including TAIKO-KIDS, the Todoroki Yosakoi Dance Group, and the Japanese J-Rock band ReaL, who are known for their energetic live shows and successful anime theme songs.

The day will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display by fireworks master Hideki Kubota, lasting for 25 minutes. The display, themed "Explore Japan - A Magical Night Sky", will take place at 11 PM.

Visitors are encouraged to spread out along the entire Rhine for good viewing opportunities. City or street trams can pass the Oberkassel Bridge until the fireworks, and two stands with official Japan Day merchandise will be new additions this year.

To ensure a sustainable event, all caterers will use reusable containers, and food will be served in reusable or edible packaging. E-scooters and rental bikes can only be parked at nearby sharing stations on Japan Day.

Pokémon GO will also be present from 10 AM to 5 PM at two stands in the city center, with a Community Day Classic taking place from 2 PM to 5 PM.

To facilitate travel, Park & Ride offers are available at CASTELLO Düsseldorf and at the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA on Japan Day. Relief services will be in operation between "Hauptbahnhof" and "Heinrich-Heine-Allee" as well as between Hauptbahnhof and Oberkassel until around 2 am on Japan Day.

For a safe and enjoyable experience, a Safe Space will be provided at the Lower Rhine Embankment, offering an alcohol-free outdoor area and closed retreat spaces. Awareness teams will be on duty during the event for cultural diversity, openness, and considerate interaction.

Trams lines U72, U75, U77, and U78 will run until around 1 am, and lines U71, U73, U76, U79, and U83 until around 2 am on Japan Day. Please note that car traffic at certain streets will be difficult or impossible to reach on Japan Day, and both bridges will be passable for pedestrians but exits and turn-offs will be closed from the early evening and will reopen after the fireworks.

Stay tuned for more updates on the detailed schedule for the event, and we hope to see you there for a magical Japanese cultural experience by the Rhine!

As the culture celebration draws near, the Pop Culture Stage at Johannes-Rais-Platz will be hosting a Karaoke Competition as part of the entertainment lineup. Visitors seeking relaxation can also enjoy music performances by various artists at the Main Stage on Burgplatz.
