Düsseldorf Witnesses Aylin Celik and Sorayah Emerging Victorious in the 2023 Band Professionalization Competition
In a city renowned for its vibrant arts scene, Düsseldorf's Cultural Affairs Office has recognised two rising talents - Aylin Celik and Sorayah - by awarding them the prestigious 2023 Band Professionalization Grant. Each recipient will receive 5,000 euros to support their musical projects.
Aylin Celik, a young woman from Düsseldorf, is making waves with her dynamic, soulful, and genre-crossing English-language songs. Her music impressed the jury despite strong competition, earning her a place among this year's grant recipients. In addition to her work in music, Aylin is also expanding her creative horizons by writing music for theatre and podcast productions.
Sorayah, who hails from the USA and has been living in Düsseldorf since 2018, is a producer, singer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Her life revolves around art and music, and the audience immediately feels the spark from her captivating performances. Last year, Sorayah won the City Beats Contest, further cementing her status as a promising artist.
The Band Professionalization program, open to young musicians and bands, offers coaching by professional musicians and experts from the music industry. Projects funded by the grant can include recording an album, producing a music video, studio production, promotional activities, or individual band support.
Each year, two Düsseldorf acts have the opportunity to implement projects worth 5,000 euros each through this program. The 2023 jury for the Band Professionalization Grant included Prof. Dieter Falk, Miguel Passarge, Ina Schulz, and Christian Elze.
