Dusseldorf will transform into the vibrant "Jazz City Bilk" this weekend, offering jazz enthusiasts a plethora of live performances and exciting events.
In the heart of Bilk, Germany, the second edition of Jazz City Bilk is set to take place from May 16th to 18th. This year's festival promises a wider variety of locations, including Ballettprobenhaus am Steinberg, Buchhandlung BiBaBuZe, Café Modigliani, Kirchplatz, and more.
The city's cultural department has pledged financial support for the festival for the coming years, ensuring its continuation and growth. Peter Weiss, who took over the artistic direction of Jazz City Bilk in 2024, has curated an impressive lineup of performances.
On Friday, May 16th, Tiefenbroich Underground will kick off the festival at Bürgerhaus Salzmannbau (7 PM, festival pass required), followed by the Marian Petrescu TrioLOGY FEAT. Joel Locher & Felix Schrack at Jazz-Schmiede (8:30 PM, special event ticket required, wheelchair accessible).
Saturday, May 17th, will be filled with a series of free and ticketed events. Upper Gate Quintett will perform an open-air concert at Kirchplatz outdoor stage (1 PM, free entry, wheelchair accessible). On Sunday, May 18th, CACTUS IN A GARAGE will perform at Schleuse2 in Bilker Bunker (6 PM, festival pass required, wheelchair accessible). The Jazz Quiz with Wolfgang Eichler & Film "Jazz on a Summer's Evening" will take place at Metropol Cinema (8:30 PM, individual ticket and festival button required, not wheelchair accessible).
